Chapter 1 “Kara, you coming?” I heard my best friend, Tina, yell up the stairs.
“Hold on a second, ok?” I yelled back as I attempted to fasten a bracelet around my wrist. After successfully completing my task, I took one last look in the mirror. I was going to a concert, so I wanted to look good. I was wearing a pair of dark-wash skinny jeans and a black fitted concert tee. My hair was up in a messy ponytail, since I knew I was going to be sweating. I took one last glance in the mirror before grabbing my purse and running downstairs.
“Finally!” Tina exclaimed. I laughed lovingly at her as I hugged her.
“I’m sorry…” I said with a smile as we broke apart. Tina was wearing a pair of khaki shorts with a concert tee matching mine.
“Yea yea, you finally ready?”
“Yes! Let’s hit it!” I said excitedly. Tina laughed as we walked out the door, our arms linked. We hopped into the car, adrenaline pumping through our veins. Tina started the engine and hit the gas, causing a screeching sound from the tires on the pavement. I reached over and blasted the radio, filling the car and surrounding air with music.
“Loud enough?” Tina shouted with a smile. I laughed.
“Nope!” I said as I turned the volume up even more. She giggled as she focused on the road in front of her. Finally, after driving for an hour and a half, we arrived at the venue. There were already people in line. Thank goodness we had pre-ordered our tickets, front row! Tina parked the car and together we walked towards the line. Taking our spots, we stood there, fidgeting like crazy from pure excitement.
“Excited Kara?” Tina asked. I turned around to answer her, but I didn’t. Instead, I was captivated by a boy a few people behind us. His head was covered by curly brown hair. His eyes were intense blue, happy and bright. He noticed me staring at him, smiling both with his mouth and eyes. I smiled back, blushing deep into my roots. Tina, noticing my distraction, turned around to see what I was looking at.
“Cute isn’t he?” I asked.
“Uh, yes!” she said. I laughed, loving her reaction.
“Hmm, I wonder if his seat is near us…”
“Oh c’mon, this gig holds like 15,000 people!”
“You’re right…” I said defeated, turning back around. I then tugged on Tina’s sleeve. “We’re moving, we’re moving!” I said excitedly. Tina laughed as we shuffled towards the giant metal gates. We handed the security guards our tickets and managed our way in. The halls were filled with fans, all talking loudly and trying to find their seats.
“Kara, this way!” Tina said, tugging on my arm. I let her pull me towards giant double doors leading to a staircase. There, the seats were being snatched up quickly.
“I can’t believe we’re in the front row!” I screamed as we walked down to the floor.
“I know! We’ll have the best view!” We pushed our way through the people, finally arriving at our amazing seats. We were right in the center, much to our delight. Then the act came on to the stage, causing the crowd to cheer like mad.
“Hello everyone! Let’s make sure tonight is fun!”
